Merry Christmas everyone! If you're on this side of the world it's almost Christmas Day and the air conditioners are on full blast (cold air - those in most parts of the world would probably be on warm!). We reviewed the Great British Chefs iPad app a little while back and marvelled at how well designed the app was and how it was great value for money.
Well, it's time to have a look at the Festive Edition and what it adds to the original app. Obviously, the focus is on recipes and food for cold Christmas climates from the top chefs in the UK. As is the case with the original app, the recipes are very enticing. Best of all, it's cheap as chips - less than $5 in US or Aussie dollars!
You can choose the type of dish you want (by meal or complexity) and the photography is stunning. Once you choose your filter the photos are highlighted and you're given a variety of choices.
Once you choose the recipe you'd like to see in detail you're provided with a gorgeous up-close photo of the dish. You can then view the ingredients and the recipe and can choose to create a shopping list to take with you to the shops.
As with the original version there are videos showing key techniques, here showing how to properly open a scallop (without removing a digit!).
There is a section highlighting each chef's new cookbook, which can be a bit of a wallet danger after a few wines...
Finally, it would be remiss of me to not highlight the Pavlova recipe, given it's about a half hour from Christmas Day here in Australia. It's part and parcel of a warm Antipodean Christmas Holiday!
Thanks to everyone who has viewed, commented, or critiqued our posts throughout 2012. It's been a great year and we look forward to expanding our blog in 2013. Heaps of love to you all!
